Second Grade Field Trips
Please return field trip permission slips for your child if you have not done so already. We have some upcoming dates below to mark on your calendar.
Performing Arts Field Trip
Our first field trip is coming up soon on Monday, Oct. 26th. It is our Performing Arts field trip and we are going to see The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.
Hyde Farm Field Trip
Our Hyde Farm field trip has been CANCELLED. We are working on setting up a different field trip at this time.Kemp's Kamp-o-ree is postponed until spring!
Too much rain has caused Kemp to reschedule this event. We will announce a new date this spring. It will be great to have our Kamp-o-ree when the weather is nicer.

The Avenue West Cobb's Annual Fall Festival
Each week I give the kids a pretest on Monday over their spelling words. After that, I expect the kids to practice their words each night in their spelling journals. Please encourage them to choose activities they enjoy from their Spelling Contract in their Go Notebooks. Your child can also work on the SpellingCity website and use the lists I have created there for them.
If your child makes a 100% or misses one or two on their pretest, I will send home a challenge word list with them. This list contains the same spelling skills, but has more challenging words. The kids are encouraged to practice their challenge words for the week. They do not have to work with the core words that they've already mastered. The challenge test will not count against your child. It is a way for them to earn extra spelling credit and they are not expected to master their challenge lists. I tell the kids the challenge list is to "help grow their brains even bigger!" They love the excitement of the challenge!
